Week 19

Your Baby: Week 19

Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.

Winter Craft

Keeping a toddler entertained when it is freezing outside is a bit of a challenge. Especially when you are pregnant and not feeling 100%. Thankfully Austin love to paint and JoAnn's Fabrics had wooden masks on sale for $1 a piece. Perfect craft for a cold winter day.

We let them dry during nap time

Feeling Crafty Follow-Up

Last Friday I posted a sneak peek of a craft project that I worked on for Austin one day while he was napping. He loves our Christmas tree, so I decided to make him his own that we could put on the wall and he could decorate all day long. I found the inspiration on Pinterest, and needless to say Austin's Felt Tree was a hit. Oh and please excuse the ugliness of the floors, we are in the process of putting down new tile.

16 Weeks

Your Baby: Week 16

Watch what you say... tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. And, if you're interested, an ultrasound might be able to determine gender.

Your Baby: Week 15

Continuing the march towards normal proportions, baby's legs now outmeasure the arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Your fetus is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb, though you probably still can't feel the movements.

Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, and (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over the body for warmth.

Adding One More to Our Family

Michael, and I are excited to announce that Austin will be getting a baby brother or sister in May 2012. That is right, I am pregnant!!! I am just over 13 weeks along and I am just as sick as I was with Austin. I was really hoping for an easier pregnancy this time around, but no such luck :( Oh well, as long as the baby is healthy I can suck it up for 9 months.

Yesterday we had our NST scan and everything looked great. Baby B was quite active and it took 2 sonogram techs over 1 1/2 hours to get the measurements they needed. I also had to get blood work done and should have those results in sometime next week.

Sorry for the crappy picture, we don't have a scanner right now so I had to take a picture of the ultrasound pic.

Kreativ Blogger

I am so excited to announce that I have been awarded my FIRST blogger award. My friend Barbara at Footprints in the Sand has graciously awarded me with the Kreativ Blogger Award. I love reading about all of Barbara and her families adventurers living abroad in Chamalieres, France. Not to mention she has an adorable 2 year that is just as obsessed with Mickey Mouse as Austin!!
The rules of the award are simple, share seven random things about me and pass on the award to other lucky bloggers. Fun, huh?!?!

1. I was the first girl born on my dad's side of the family in close to 60 years. The last girl born before me was my grandmother. My grandfather's family 3 boys, my grandparents had 3 boys, my uncle had 2 boys, my dad had 2 boys and than there was me. Too make it that much more special I was born on my grandmother's birthday. First girl in 60 years was the perfect present.

2. Much like Barbara I cannot parallel park. I will take it one step farther and I say that I cannot stand to drive. I get nervous and start to sweat when I have to drive others place. It really is quite weird.

3. I have a middle and maiden name that almost no one has ever heard of. My middle name is Viana, named after my great-grandmother and my maiden name is Cechin (pronounced Cha-keen)

4. I absolutely love going to the beach but refuse to go into any water other than the Caribbean.

5. No matter where I live, Texas will always be home to me. Michael and I's love for Texas runs so deep we named our son, Austin after it.

6. This year will be the first year that Michael and I get a Christmas tree. The last 2 years we didn't get one for some reason or another, and I am super excited. Austin is going to LOVE having and getting into the tree.

7. I have had the same car for almost 11 years, and Michael is hoping it lasts another 10. We will see about that!

Now time to hand off the award to some of my favorite blogs. I can't wait to read what you ladies come up with!!!

Mount Vernon

While my parents and brother were here we decided to drive to Alexandria, VA and visit George Washington's Mount Vernon. The weather was a cool and sunny 55 degrees, it was perfect weather for walking around. Austin was a little moody since we were there during his nap time, but other than that he had a great time walking around and looking at the animals. Do to copyright issues taking pictures inside the house was prohibited, but we were able to take pictures everywhere else.
