First Trip to Disneyland

While in California we decided to take advantage of the gorgeous weather and head to Disneyland for the day. I really wished Michael was able to go with us, since it was Austin's first time but we already have a trip to Disney World in the works for next January.

I was really worried how Austin would do. He is not a fan of Santa, Easter Bunny, etc. so I thought for sure he would be completely freaked out by Mickey, Minnie, etc. but he did great. We woke up bright and early Monday at 5 am to head out to Anaheim with my mom and cousin Amy. We ended up making great time, so we stopped and grabbed a quick breakfast before making our way to the park. Austin was pretty grumpy most of the morning, he was super tired from getting up so early and the time change (3 hours) but we made the most of it.

The first ride we hit was Peter Pan, which made Austin a little nervous at times but other than that he enjoyed it. After that we went on Dumbo, which he loved but only when we were going low. He flipped out when it went up high. He wasn't a fan of the carousel and he hated the Winnie the Pooh ride, but he loved It's a Small World and playing in Toon Town.

All in all it was a great day. We spent close to 9 hours there, and Austin wasn't ready to go when we left. I was also surprised that I wasn't tired seeing as I was 27 weeks pregnant. Thankfully he took a much needed hour nap around 11 and woke up refreshed and ready to run and play. I wished we would have stayed long enough to see the parade but we didn't want to hit traffic.

Rides we went on:
  • Peter Pan
  • Dumbo
  • It's a Small World
  • Thunder Mountain (Mom and Amy)
  • Pirates of the Caribbean (Mom and I)
  • Winnie the Pooh
Characters we saw/met:
  • Minnie Mouse
  • Mickey Mouse
  • Pluto
  • Goofy, Chip and Dale, Donald Duck, Mad Hatter (only saw them from a far during a musical performance)
  • Woody
  • Jessie
  • Winnie the Pooh
  • Eeyore
  • Starship Trooper
  • Mardi Gras Mickey, Minnie, Goofy during a parade

Pinterest Inspired Valentine's Day

Pinterest might just be my new obsession!!! I discovered it late last year and have been hooked ever since. Thanks to this handy website, I was able to find an arts and craft project for Austin, a Valentine's Day card for Austin to make Michael, and recipes for dinner and dessert!!!

Austin and I spent the afternoon Ziplock bag painting.

We made Michael the cutest card after nap time.

For dinner I made some delicious Roasted Lemon Garlic Herb Shrimp with white rice and sliced apples. For dessert Austin and I made a yummy Moist Chocolate Cake.

Your Baby: Week 26

At week 26, baby may be interfering with your sleep, messing with your brain (forget much?), and even be giving you a stress headache or two. It’s normal to be experiencing some mild swelling, but around this week, it’s important to watch out for swelling severe or sudden -- it could be the sign of a dangerous condition called pre-eclampsia.

How far along? 26 weeks

Weight gain/loss: Down 2 poundss

Maternity clothes? I finally broke down got out my maternity clothes. I also went and bought a few bigger non-maternity shirts. My jeans still fit but are snug, so I have been enjoying my yoga pants a lot :)

Stretch marks?
None.

Sleep?
1-2 times a night.

Best moment this week? We head to CA tomorrow for 6 days :)

Food cravings? Sweets this week!

Gender:
I think we might have caved and decided to find out, not sure yet. We still have a month until our next ultrasound.

Belly button in or out?
In

Movement?
Yep, all the time.

What I miss?
This week I am really missing alcohol.

What I'm looking forward to: Leaving for CA tomorrow.

Milestones: I have been getting Braxton Hicks contraction almost every night. Nothing to worry about, I just sit down and take it easy when I start to notice them. Michael can now feel the baby moving every night when we lay down to go to bed.

Sick.... Again?!?!?!

This poor little guy is sick yet again. He has a nasty cold complete with fever, cough, congestion, so we are spending our days curled up on the couch or in bed watching Max and Ruby on repeat. We leave for CA one week from today and I need to him to get better. So for now, we are house bound.

Isn't he pitiful?!?!?

Update 2/10/12: We just got back from the Dr. with a diagnosis of a viral infection and the beginning of another ear infection in his right ear. He is on a round of antibiotics to hopefully clear everything up before we leave in 6 days.

Another Milestone: Big Boy Bed

Last night we hit another milestone that gave Michael and I another reminder that Austin is quickly growing up and is no longer our baby. We decided that it was time to make the transition from his crib to his new bed. We were both nervous about making the switch but knock on wood, Austin did a lot better than we thought he would. Today I took him out to buy him some new sheets to make nap and bed time that much more exciting for him.
